Monitors and facilitates compliance with federal, state, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) regulatory and governing standards, including but not limited to laws, regulations, statutes, codes, policies, procedures, rules, and directives, as well as compliance own internal and external policies and procedures. Responsibilities: 25% Manage and supervise export control compliance program, implementing procedures and policies to comply with federal export control laws, system policies and regulations as well as agency rules and procedures. Implement and administer procedures for exports, deemed exports, travel, and shipping. 15% Work closely with business offices, departments, and contract offices regarding the identification of awards that may require monitoring for export control purposes. Approve purchases in Concur and TexanBuy. Provide shipping approval for items shipped overseas. 10% Develop, maintain, and update the university's export control policy and compliance program. 10% Serve as the primary point of contact for advice, resources, education, and coordination of export compliance; including regular technology screening activities, as well as faculty and staff education and outreach about export compliance and related topics. 5% Conduct export control analysis of individual projects and technologies at URI. Work with faculty to understand the technology, individuals, and facilities involved and determine whether a technology control plan is needed. As required, file for a formal commodity jurisdiction determination or export license with federal agencies. 5% Maintain export documentation, including license determinations, technology control plans. 5% Apply for and maintain documentation related to export licenses, and serve as a point of contact related to records for federal agencies during audits and inspections. 5% Use the Visual Compliance platform to conduct primary screenings for visiting scholars and provide a secondary screening for foreign hires or foreign students if necessary. 5% Contact each traveler with import/export information and recommendations for taking technology/computers/items abroad. 5% Serve as liaison with the Office of General Counsel as well as Research Security in critical export control issues. 5% On an as-needed basis assists the university in leading or co-leading investigations in the areas of Title IX and, or other compliance related matters. 5% Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor
