This is a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls (UWRF). This is a joint position with an industry partner, Interfacial, LLC (www.ifllc.com). The employee will teach part-time at UWRF, with the balance of the position being comprised of working onsite at Interfacial Consultants. The hired candidate will be expected to travel to each work location. This position is designed specifically for candidates who are seeking professional growth in teaching and scholarship at a primarily undergraduate institution while also gaining valuable industry experience creating innovative material science solutions for both internal, and client driven, research and development projects. In addition, s/he will be encouraged to conduct scholarly research with undergraduate students and engage in service to the university and/or community, to the extent possible. The initial appointment is for 9.5-10 months and may be extended for an additional 12-14 months pending a satisfactory performance review and available budget.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field at the start of the appointment. Preferred qualifications include any interdisciplinary combination of Material Science, Applied Physical Chemistry (Polymers), Biopolymers, Biomaterials, and/or Bio-related Material Science. Industrial and/or polymer extrusion experience is highly desirable. Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not required.
