Anderson University (South Carolina) and the School of Public Service and Administration invite applications for a full-time position as Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice. This nine-month position is available beginning with the Fall Semester in August, 2019, and is eligible for tenure track. Anderson University is a comprehensive, liberal arts institution affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The Criminal Justice program offers courses in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, corrections and homeland security/emergency management at the undergraduate level. The program also houses the Command College of South Carolina program which leads to a graduate level Criminal Justice degree. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching a variety of courses for the Criminal Justice program. The successful candidate should be able to teach Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminology, Research Methods, and other undergraduate courses as well as graduate courses necessary for the Command College. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty members are expected to participate in research and other University academic and social activities and programs.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Criminal Justice or Criminology from an accredited institution; an earned doctorate in a closely related field is acceptable with a history of teaching and scholarly publication in criminal justice. ABD’s may apply with evidence of expected completion. The Juris Doctorate as a terminal degree is not acceptable for this position. Applicants who have a history of working in the criminal justice field are encouraged to apply.
