Integrity and appropriate conduct are integral to Schroders' culture and approach to risk management. Active and effective risk management is at the core of Schroders' business and is regarded as a key competence by clients, consultants, regulators, counterparties, shareholders, internal stakeholders and other interested parties. Group Risk works closely with the other governance functions (Compliance, Group Internal Audit and Group Legal) in order to identify risks and provide independent challenge and oversight to the group's risk profile. The Group Risk function team consists of specialists in the following areas:
- Credit Risk - Operational Risk - Investment Risk / Portfolio Compliance / Methodology & Analytics - Insurance - Emerging Risk, Capital Modelling and Stress Testing - Risk Governance and Group Policy - Enterprise Risk
In addition to these specialists, resources are based in Asia, the Americas and Europe and are responsible for ensuring that the risk management process is effectively implemented in each region.
Key Responsibilities
Provide specialist 2nd line oversight of the Group's approach to managing technology resilience and technology risk. This includes assisting the BCP and operational risk specialists in ensuring that the technology aspects of the risks they are responsible for overseeing and monitoring are appropriately articulated and understood.
Working with the Head of Specialist Risk to develop a framework for overseeing the Group's approach to technology resilience focussing on the Group's ability to recover from scenarios including a cyber attack or system change failure.
Working with the BCP team to ensure that technology resilience is appropriately understood and considered within both their BCP management and oversight activities.
Undertaking deep dive reviews when required of the adequacy of Group's approach to technology resilience ensuring that the risks identified as a result to such reviews are appropriately escalated and remediated.
Developing strong and effective working relationships across all 3 lines of defence to facilitate effective identification, management and remediation of technology resilience risk.
Ensuring that technology resilience risk is appropriately integrated within operational risk processes including within risk control assessments and risk event management.
Background/ Essential Skills
A demonstrable interest and background in technology either through 2 - 3 years experience or a degree/ industry recognised qualification and at least 1 year of direct work experience.
An awareness and understanding of the key risks related to technology resilience including cyber and change risk.
A desire to develop a deep and broad understanding of all aspects of technology resilience including disaster recovery planning and testing, system architecture, crisis management, cyber risk management and change risk management.
An ability to translate and communicate complex matters in a straightforward and easy to understand manner.
Strong numerical skills combined with good written communication skills
A competent user of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
