The Emergency Management Coordinator (EHS Spec 4) works independently developing, implementing and coordinating Emergency Management Programs. The position holds responsibility for tracking emergency preparedness and vulnerability trends locally, regionally and nationally, identifying opportunities for improvement; serving as a technical expert in emergency management issues, hazard vulnerability analysis, emergency response planning, exercise design, business continuity planning and providing guidance to the other UCDH personnel.REQUIRED-Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Health and Safety, Health Sciences, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or related field and three years of progressive responsibility and experience required, or combination of equivalent education and experience.-Knowledge and understanding of healthcare institutions; experience in an academic or healthcare setting desirable.-Experience with implementation of emergency management or business continuity programs including hazard analysis, mitigation and preparedness planning, as well as response to and recovery from disaster events. -Awareness and understanding of the requirements of The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare and & Medicare Services standards as applicable to Emergency Management in healthcare settings. -Intermediate skills, knowledge and abilities to apply professional knowledge and expertise from disciplines of emergency management, using original and innovative approaches and techniques to solve complex non-routine problems.-Demonstrated skills to appropriately and effectively respond to and guide the response to emergencies; including follow-up evaluation of response activities, development of Corrective Action Plan, and implementation of improvements to written plans.-Experience conducting trainings and exercises skills in establishing priorities to complete work in a timely manner, despite changes in workload or assignment, pressure of deadlines, or competing priorities-Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to maintain an effective and cooperative relationship with staff, students, faculty, co-workers, public and regulatory agencies. -Demonstrated ability to give engaging, persuasive and effective presentations to large and small audiences. -Demonstrated leadership skills.-Familiarity with local, state, and national government disaster response protocols and resources. -Skills, knowledge and abilities to recognize trends, develop long-range goals, and analyze data of a complex and variable nature. -Competent in basic computer software, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT-Must possess a valid California driver's license. -Must be able to work a variable schedule including occasional evenings, nights and overtime. -Must be able to wear appropriate safety equipment. -Must participate in medical monitoring program. -Ability to engage in moderate physical activity and stand for prolonged periods of time. -Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.
