The UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies seeks a 12 month non-tenure track or tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor or Clinical Professor, for our graduate nursing programs. The School offers a pre-licensure BSN, RN to BSN, MSN, DNP and PhD programs.
The University of Missouri-Kansas City is a comprehensive urban university with nationally recognized programs in the health sciences, the arts and business/urban affairs. The School of Nursing and Health Studies is nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report for its graduate programs. The faculty selected for this position will be expected to: a) teach in a hybrid or on-line graduate program (full-time, 12 month appointment); b) provide service appropriate to the position; c) advance the goals of the School of Nursing and Health Studies and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Strategic Plan; d) remain current in clinical practice; and e) provide guidance in the application of technology to nursing. Assistant or Associate Professors will also be expected to either initiate or continue a program of research. The School seeks faculty of regional or national prominence to teach in our innovative programs. Accredited by the Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education, the School values excellence in teaching, scholarship, clinical practice and service.
The faculty selected for a tenured/tenure track position will be expected to:
Maintain an active program of scholarship and externally funded research;
Mentor junior faculty to assist in their obtaining extramural funding;
Teach in the educational programs in Nursing;
Provide service appropriate to the position;
Advance the goals of the School of Nursing and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Strategic Plan;
Provide guidance in the application of technology to nursing; and
Demonstrate expertise in practice
An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field;
A record of quality teaching and service appropriate to the rank;
Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Missouri; and
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
certification as a nurse practitioner (NP) in primary care
Candidates for Assistant/Associate Professor must have:
A record of scholarship and funded research conducive to tenure eligibility;
Experience and/or willingness to mentor faculty and doctoral students; and
Expertise in clinical outcomes research.
The faculty selected for a non-tenure track position will be expected to:
Provide leadership in development and instruction of didactic and clinical courses/ experiences in the MSN and DNP programs;
Integrate research findings into teaching and practice;
Demonstrate expertise in teaching and evaluation;
Provide academic advice and assistance on students' plans of studies and uncomplicated progression;
Demonstrates expertise in practice;
Provide service appropriate to the position;
Advance the goals of the School of Nursing and the University of Missouri-Kansas City's Strategic Plan; and
Provide guidance in the application of technology to nursing.
Full Time/Part Time
Full-time, 40 hours per week
Salary commensurate with experience.
