Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Scientist.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for working with Principal Investigators (PI) and working independently within the scientific framework of the PI's laboratory.
Initiates, interprets, organizes, executes, and coordinates research assignments critical to the laboratory. Becomes completely familiar with the compliance issues within the Department
Formulates and conducts research on problems of considerable scope and complexity. Performs experiments with some to minimal supervision.
Explores and reads literature pertinent to the research. Is able to maintain IRB protocols.
Is able to assist the PI in maintaining IRB and Animal protocol.
Develops new ideas that promote current research. Exercises a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive scientific research programs and activities of outstanding novelty and/or importance.
May manage the operations of a lab for the Principal Investigator by supervising technicians. Oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all instruments and laboratory facilities.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of research projects.
May provide students with technical guidance and direction in the operation of various sample preparation techniques, and equipment as well as general laboratory practices and safety protocols.
May participate in writing grant proposals under the supervision of the PI.
May be responsible research/lab quality control and compliance.
May develop protocol for the collection and quality of research data.
Develops research techniques and methodologies.
May determine and establish laboratory policies, procedures and practices.
May make significant contributions to scientific papers. Is a resource/ author/ co-author for reports and presentations depending on contributions as needed by the PI.
May provide recommendations for equipment purchases and for the redesign of lab space.
May coordinate the activity and experimental design between various labs, scientific staff, and collaborators. Identifies and resolves technical problems.
May serve on internal committees to help further goals of research projects and bring new expertise to the research program.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Is trained in Phlebotomy, isolating DNA from blood samples, PCR, DNA gel electrophoresis, sterile tissue culture techniques. Has bench work capabilities.
Is proficient in MS Office, using Excel to sort data create logic plot graphs, Power Point and statistical software. Be able to use Epic to pull out study relevant information for recruiting patients.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a MS degree with at least 1 year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Substantial experience. Proficient user of REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture). Has experience with Phlebotomy
