Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Under the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and Student Records, the Associate Director for State Aid Operations will provide oversight of and manage the operations of all New York State aid programs. The Associate Director ensures accurate, efficient services that are in compliance with regulations and continually formulates recommendations and implements changes that support departmental objectives.
Develop and implement policies, processes and strategies for new and existing NYS aid programs
Ensure compliance with NYS aid regulations and processes
Solve problems requiring interpretation of existing guidelines, practices and procedures and enforce University policies and procedures
Act as the office liaison to professional academic advising offices
Chair the TAP and Excelsior Advisement Committee
Act as the office liaison to the Higher Education Services Corporation
Develop a full understanding of the academic requirements and policies which affect the administration of NYS aid
Participate in the planning and implementation of technical solutions to support the awarding and certification of NYS aid
In conjunction with the Associate Director for Student Records, develop data edits, reports and dashboards to assist in the administration of New York State aid programs
Supervise the NYS Grants and Scholarships Coordinator
Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategies (both internal and external) that may include relationship development, communications and compliance
Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, critical analysis, initiative, judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing/in small and large groups
Experience supervising professional staff
Knowledge of Banner Student Information Systems
Five years' experience working in a higher education environment i.e. Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising or Student Accounts
