This position requires an experienced business and technology leader to oversee and administer the college’s information technology function. The successful candidate will serve as the Chief Information Officer of the college and collaborate with executive leadership, academic and business departments to align the goals, objectives, people and processes of the Department of Information Technology with the technology and business needs of the college.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES
Provide leadership and vision for the use of information technology as a critical component of the success of the college
Provide leadership, oversight, and development of IT staff: coaching, directing, mentoring, evaluating and counseling personnel in adherence with HR policies and procedures
Responsible for the strategic recruitment and hiring of mission critical technology positions
Promote innovative, effective and efficient uses of IT solutions in collaboration with academic and administrative departments across the college
Develop and implement a technology strategic plan in collaboration with TJC executive leadership and the Executive IT Steering Committee
Meet regularly with college leaders to ensure alignment between the technology strategic plans and the college’s strategic priorities and to ensure the college’s technology needs are being met
Direct the planning, budgeting and operations of the IT Department
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key Texas constituencies in higher education, state government and leading corporations
Maintain a knowledge of current best practice in IT management and technology deployment

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, Management or a related field.
Ten years of progressively responsible experience in provision of IT services and IT management with at least five years of supervisory experience over multiple IT functions.
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business, Management or a related field.
Maintain a consistent work schedule, including after-hours schedule as required
May have contact – in person, by email, or by phone – with staff, students, and the general public.
