Chief Executive Officer
Inland Empire Health Plan
Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), a not-for-profit Medi-Cal (Medicaid) and Medicare health plan in Southern California, is conducting a search for their next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The incumbent CEO is retiring after 23 years in leadership at IEHP – the last eleven years as CEO. IEHP is the largest health plan in the Inland Empire, and one of the fastest growing health plans in the nation. The Inland Empire is one of the largest growing metropolitan areas in the nation with more than 4.4 million people. With a network of more than 6,000 providers and over 2,000 team members, IEHP provides comprehensive managed health care coverage to more than 1.2 million residents of Riverside and San Bernardino counties enrolled in Medi-Cal or Cal MediConnect (Dual-eligibles). IEHP is financial sound with revenues of approximately $4.7 billion and reserves of $871 million for fiscal year 2018. The health plan is well positioned to embrace a new leader who will work closely with the Governing Board, serve as an internal sounding board to the senior team, be visible to employees, listen to members and their needs, and maintain outstanding provider relations. IEHP seeks a leader who embraces being involved in strategic issues as well as day-to-day responsibilities, advancing performance management. He/She must be a credible contributor and help build long lasting relationships with state regulators, multiple county leaders, providers, partners and employers, as well as being a knowledgeable contributor and spokesperson for the plan. In cooperation with the Governing Board, the CEO develops, recommends and implements IEHP's strategic goals and objectives. It is a good time for the new CEO to join the organization as it is well managed, the culture and morale are robust, the financial position is strong and IEHP's reputation is outstanding. The ideal candidate will have experience as a senior executive in a complex and successful health care organization, ideally with experience in Medi-Cal/Medicaid or Medicare managed care. He/She will be a diplomat and a collaborator with a proven track record of leading a successful health care organization and positioning it for change. A master's/advanced degree is required preferably in medicine, healthcare, business, public administration, or a related field. Candidates must have 15 years of progressive leadership experience within the health care field, and at least five years of senior level management experience in a complex managed care organization, large health system or health plan. Nominations and requests for additional information may be sent to the attention of Chris Neumann and Mark Andrew at cneumann@wittkieffer.com.
