Department Information The Simulation Innovation and Modeling Center (SIMCenter) was established in 2013, made possible by a $5 million gift from Honda R&D Americas, Inc. and a funding match from Ohio State. Since its inception as an interdisciplinary research center for virtual simulation and modeling, SIMCenter has cemented Ohio State's reputation as a world leader in innovating virtual engineering methods for real-world manufacturing. We research and apply computer-aided engineering techniques to the design and manufacturing of advanced product and production concepts, while spurring the creation of innovative engineering solutions using primarily physics-based modeling. Our forward-thinking, multidisciplinary teams of Ohio State students, faculty, and staff work closely with industry and agency partners to create innovative, simulation technology research projects. Projects span diverse applications such as software validation of autonomous vehicles, joining of lightweight materials in vehicle bodies, noise reduction in dishwashers and drones, and improvement of energy capture from wind turbines. SIMCenter also supports a range of educational initiatives aimed at students and working professionals to better prepare them for using simulation tools in their careers.
