Responsible for the coordination of multiple service areas within a County division of a large department. The incumbent will be responsible for the high-level oversight and overall management of the School Health Program. Responsibilities include performing program and school based community needs assessments and tailoring program activities to meet those needs; collaborating closely with internal and external program partners to aid in program development; program evaluation and implementation of program model redesign when indicated; assessing work process methods; coordinating inter/intradepartmental activities, integrating School Health services within the Department and the community; and providing professional/technical/budgetary administrative management and direction for the program. This incumbent represents the School Health Program and the Department on Departmental and multi-agency task forces, committees, and planning teams to provide expertise and guidance regarding school health issues.

Experience: Six years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the area assigned. Position will require extensive knowledge of local, state and federal laws, regulations, directives and agreements relating to School Health Nursing. Licenses and Certifications:
Current NC License to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the NC Board of Nursing or another Nurse Licensure Compact State.
American Heart Association CPR certification must be current; proof will be required prior to hire.
Valid NC or SC driver’s license and the ability to obtain and maintain a County Operator Permit.
Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field
Knowledge of contemporary health and psychosocial issues that influence children, health care delivery systems and the concepts of primary health care, school as a non-traditional health care setting, school health law, special education legislation and services, environmental health, CMS health curriculum, and health promotion within the school community
Scope of school nursing practice
Experience with development, management and evaluation of school health programs
