Intermountain Rural Electric Association is currently seeking a team-oriented individual to fill our Communications Technician position in our Sedalia location. With over 151,000 members, Intermountain Rural Electric Association is one of the largest member-owned electric utility cooperatives in the United States.
This is a regular full-time position working a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. Normal hours of business are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., working an optional 9/80 schedule.
The Communication Technician is responsible to the Information Technology Manager for the work necessary to assist with the development, installation, and maintenance of the Association’s communication systems, including a Land Mobile Radio system, microwave communications systems, telephone systems, fiber optic systems and data networking systems. Duties require direct contact with various government officials and representatives, businesses, consumers, and Association personnel. This position requires travel to isolated worksites. A strong ability to work independently and be self-motivated is essential. This position works with confidential information, which, if disclosed, might have adverse effects.
The Communication Technician position requires a minimum of five years’ experience in communication technology, including knowledge of microwave, Land Mobile Radio, fiber optic networks, and UHF/VHF radio frequency (RF) systems, is required. The candidate must have a valid Colorado driver’s license.
