What part will you play?
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment seeks a Director, Business Development & Licensing for the Business Development department. The Director, Business Development & Licensing will work closely with the VP to formulate licensing strategies and securing deals for the use of Warner Bros. brands for games and digital products. This position regularly liaises with partners, internal departments, brand stakeholders and other divisions at WB.
This position is responsible for developing a portfolio of titles that will drive licensing revenue and expand or develop new relationships to strengthen WB relationships within the games industry. The Director will be responsible for competitive and market research analysis of different opportunities as well as working on setting a holistic licensing strategy at WB. This position will also from time to time be responsible to support third party distribution deals and other specific initiatives around emerging technology.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience dealing with console and mobile licensing and partnerships as well as experience in driving the deal process, starting from sourcing and evaluating opportunities, structuring and negotiating contracts and then providing partner support post-execution. The candidate should also have experience in strategic planning as well as managing a portfolio of partners.
Identify and execute new licensing opportunities for WB brands.
Lead license evaluating and negotiation in support of VP, Business Dev and Licensing.
Maintain strong relationships with current licensees and future prospective partners whether it be publishers or developers.
Develop quarterly updates on licensing business for WB execs.
Contribute to the modeling, research and evaluation of strategic licensing opportunities.
Effectively collaborate with legal, finance and other internal teams throughout the contract negotiation process.
Work in close partnership with any brand stakeholders and approvers to deliver against the needs of the business.
Act as interface between licensees and internal WB divisions where approvals are needed.
Create a set of core KPIs relevant to the licensing team that can benchmark quarterly and annual success.
Researches current licensing trends and competition as well as developing brand specific decks regarding a new license or opportunity.
Work with theatrical, tv and animation divisions to keep up to date on new potential license opportunities.
Support on third party distribution, AR/VR or other special projects.
What do we require from you?
8+ years in a licensing role or as a part of a film studio/games publisher or similar experiences in other professional services.
Experience with the full process of games licensing as well as in strategic planning, negotiation and partner management desired.
Ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of games/brands and be a consumer of entertainment content of all types.
Must understand both the console and mobile marketplace and key players within each.
Must be able to creatively conceptualize and then sell an idea/make an argument.
Must be a self-starter.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
Previous negotiation experience required.
Knowledge of the studio system and/or game developer ecosystem.
Must be able to work independently.
Strong attention to detail.
Key requirement to build and manage key strategic relationships effectively and exhibit drive and skill to grow and build revenue business.
