Provide communications leadership, assistance and support to the staff and fellows of the Pell Center, a multidisciplinary research center at Salve Regina University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications Assistant will work with the Executive Director of the Pell Center and other center staff to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the Pell Center, its fellows, and its programming;
Use Cision to reach targeted media contacts locally, regionally, and nationally working on issues important to the Pell Center;
Develop and maintain the Pell Center's website, social media outlets, and blog?to include the provision of support to other Pell Center staff less familiar with social media and blogging;
Support the creation and maintenance of active relationships with local, regional, and national journalists working on relevant issues;
Disseminate Pell Center reports, analyses, and event notices to members of the press as well as the general public;
Provide support on filming days for "Story in the Public Square," including photography;
Manage social media campaign for all of the Pell Center's initiatives;
Ensure the Pell Center's materials and distributions adhere to Salve Regina University's branding guide; and
Coordinate the Pell Center communications activities with other offices at Salve Regina University, notably the Office of University Relations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Communications Assistant will also support the general operation of the Pell Center as directed by the Executive Director as well as the Office and Events Manager.
A bachelor's degree in a relevant academic field. Knowledge of MS Office software required along with mastery of social media platforms (specifically, Facebook and Twitter) and best practices. A demonstrated interest in and familiarity with public policy or international relations. Strong written and verbal communications skills as well as a comfort and ability to work with public officials, the press, and constituents are essential. Experience with Wordpress and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
