Advertised Summary Job Description: 1.Responsible for daily management of a team dedicated to billing and collection for billable clinical services by Neurosurgery providers. Responsibilities include but not limited to: coding, charge capture, claim edit resolution, account receivables follow up, insurance verification, obtaining authorization/pre-certs, customer service and other revenue cycle work. 2.Assess and ensure adequate staffing is available to support and manage in house team. 3.Works closely with the University's central business office(s) to ensure optimal revenue cycle performance. 4.Directly supervise management and staff in management of HR issues. 5.Manage productivity and performance of staff in accordance with policy and protocols. 6.Prioritize work activities, evaluating effectiveness and performance. 7.Participate in various revenue cycle improvement initiatives to maximize reimbursement and collections. 8.Keeps apprised of rules and regulations affecting reimbursement. 9.Stays current on department's specialty knowledge to optimize collections as well be in compliance of regulations. 10.Perform analytics and identifies trends to minimize billing errors. 11.Develop performance indicators and quality control reports including trends of non-compliance by payers. 12.Assist with other assignments including work for migration to Epic platform and other supporting systems.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience; Master's preferred.
2.5 years' management experience in a physician billing or 3rd party payer environment. 3.Experience with Epic medical record and billing system 4.Demonstrated skills in revenue cycle management, problem assessment, project management and resolution and collaborative problem solving. 5.Ability to work collaboratively and promote team building with a culturally diverse staff and patient/family population. 6.Proven skills in project and change management 7.Proficiency in insurance coding, billing, collections, denials management as it pertains to commercial, managed care, government, managed care and self-pay lines of business. 8.Proficiency in payer policies. Ability to navigate payer portals. 9.Proficiency in business software applications. 10.Ability to take direction from senior leadership but also be able to work independently with follow-through and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 11.Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. 12.This position requires the ability to interact positively, constructively and effectively with employees, professional staff, community representatives and carriers. 13.Must be a motivated individual with a positive and strong work ethic. 14.Knowledge of computer systems including use of spreadsheets and database programs. 15.Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. 16.Ability to educate and train all levels of professional staff.
