ERM Director We're hiring! Aon are currently recruiting a ERM Director to join our team in London. The ERM Director will be primarily responsible for working with the CRO and the Executive Management team to work across Aon UK Limited (AUKL) and, by agreement, with Retirement and Investment to design, co-ordinate and execute risk assessments. They will recruit and develop the team of three, who will be senior and experienced risk professionals who will be able to operate at any point in the organisation in areas that present significant risk to the organisation. About the Role Your impact as a ERM Director: Team Management Define the team's respective roles and responsibilities. Provide clear management, guidance and development to team. Create the team's annual plans and ERM frameworks. Ensure that the ERM team's plan and approach is clear and integrated with other Risk & Compliance teams in order that the business sees 'one professional and insightful service' from Risk & Compliance. Be clear on which team/individual is leading which piece of work and communicate effectively within Risk &Compliance on progress. Ensure that the right people, with the right skills are working on each risk engagement (e.g. IT skills, operations etc). Reporting Produce quality and timely reporting to the various governance committees across Aon. Both for the Non-Executive Committees (Board, Risk & Compliance and Audit Committees) and Executive committees (such as AUKL ExCo, business's ERM Committees, ABC Risk Committee etc.). Ensure the team is producing targeted, intelligent, insightful and value-added content, written specifically for the right audience. Drive a commercial perspective on the risk versus reward dynamic of each engagement. Encourage taking increased risk where there are clear opportunities and where appropriate. Similarly, advise against taking excessive amounts of risk where there is not sufficient reason to. Regulators Assist the Head of Compliance and CRO manage the FCA relationship on risk-based matters. Primarily on behalf of AUKL but also any other Aon UK company that needs assistance in doing so (shared service style concept). Help other Aon functions manage other supervisory and regulatory relationships such as the ICO, NCA etc. ERM responsibilities Contribute to the analysis of the AUKL strategy from a risk perspective (e.g. Strategy template to include SWOT analysis and integrate risk considerations against key initiatives etc.) Help position Aon as a thought leader in the field of risk management. Attend key regulatory body forums and industry forums when they are risk driven, co-ordinating with the Head of Compliance. Ensure that new industry developments in risk management are considered for use in Aon. Ensure that risk management assessments on key AUKL projects and programmes are undertaken at the right time and with the right rigour. Ensure there is a close working relationship with the Risk & Compliance Business Partner team who will be ensuring that the businesses are thinking about their risk responsibilities on a more BAU level. Develop, maintain and administer Aon's Risk Management Policies working with the Governance and Analytics Director. As a senior manager within the department, act as an ambassador for the Risk & Compliance team. Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company. About you Your knowledge and expertise: Education - Degree level (or equivalent) or significant industry experience in the field of expertise Professional - Specialist risk or insurance qualifications Proven ability to lead on discussions, and ability to represent Aon, with FSA and other regulators. Detailed knowledge of financial services industry, reasonable knowledge of regulation, operating practices and technology. Excellent oral/written communication, planning, project management, networking and influencing skills. Experienced risk professional in a financial services industry (at least 7 years). Excellent people engagement skills and experience of influencing a multi-disciplinary team of professional staff. Strong experience of working in a cross-functional environment. Excellent stakeholder management, relationship building and influencing skills at senior management level. Dynamic and proactive bringing energy and enthusiasm to compliance subjects. Team player. Confidence and credibility to face off to the organisation's most senior management and directors.
