The Aviation Advising and Accreditation Coordinator for the College of Education's Aviation Department is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and managing processes for all departmental advising activities (including on-site and off-site orientation sessions and open-houses), and coordinating, facilitating, and managing all accreditation activities, including assessment actions required by the accreditor(s). This position is responsible for the supervision, direction, mentoring and training of a Graduate Assistant and a Student Worker assigned to assist with advising and accreditation activities. The Coordinator will also recommend and assist with the creation and/or update of student program experiences and requirements. Duties and Responsibilities would represent:
45%--Coordinate, facilitate, and manage advising activities (including on and off-site advising, orientation sessions and open houses) and supervise, direct, and mentor a Graduate Assistant (GA) and Student Worker to assist with support for those activities.
Participate in occasional collaborative flight-training advising activities offsite (at the Mankato Airport).
Assign work, provide training, observe work performance, mentor and provide feedback to the GA and Student Worker as it relates to their assigned activities.
Independently, or in partnership with faculty, create and/or update advising processes.
Collaborate with faculty to foster positive advising experiences that will provide personal growth, practical skills, knowledge and experience in preparation for future employment within the Aviation career fields.
30%--Coordinate, facilitate, and manage accreditation activities (including assessment and accreditation status maintenance), and supervise, direct, and mentor a Graduation Assistant (GA) to assist with support for those activities.
Assign work, provide training, observe work performance, mentor and provide feedback to the GA as it relates to their assigned activities. Independently, or in partnership with faculty, create and/or update accreditation maintenance and support processes.
Responsible, on behalf of the department, to manage assessment activity compliance with accreditor(s) requirements.
Coordinate with College of Education Office of Assessment and Research staff regarding assessment tools, training, and support.
20%--Coordinate with the College of Education Student Relations Coordinator to ensure consistent and effective advising and refer students to faculty assignment as program advisors, or other appropriate University offices and personnel, such as the Center for Academic Success, Career Development Center, and/or Accessibility Services, to facilitate student success.
5%--Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or as requested by the Aviation Department Program Coordinator.
Bachelor's Degree in any aviation discipline accompanied by license or certificate in any aviation occupation.
Bachelor's Degree accompanied by significant advising experience.
Minimum one (1) year experience in an aviation environment which may include military, airline industry, educational, or professional aviation training teaching at flight school or academy, OR experience in any education advising role.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Strong background or experience in aviation. (flight, airfield management, safety, dispatch or related)
Background or experience in advising, career development or similar.
Experience teaching in a formal setting. (corporate training and development, Pk-12, or Higher Education)
Experience with basic student learning assessment practices.
Demonstrated ability to supervise students, or strong potential for successful supervision.
Knowledge of accreditation practices or potential to learn accreditation practices.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
