We are looking for intelligent, intuitive, flexible, creative, enthusiastic, curious individuals who enjoy a challenge and working with gifted young people who struggle with some learning differences. Instruction includes 1:1 and small seminars for personalized learning and acceleration when necessary. Good rapport with children and adolescents is imperative as well as the ability to adjust instruction to individual needs.
Candidate should have an understanding of dual differentiation: components of special education such as breaking down assignments and strong scaffolding as well as incorporating advanced curriculum topics and higher order thinking skills from gifted education pedagogy.
Creativity in developing alternative assignments and maintaining high standards is required.
Candidate must be a collaborative individual as teachers work in academic teams with strong supports from psychosocial and clinical professionals for counseling, social cognition, occupational therapy, and movement. Professional development is ongoing from a trained staff of professionals and a certificate in twice exceptional education is offered by the 2e Study Center affiliated with The Quad.

Collaborate with the psychosocial staff in planning an integrated curriculum for executive functioning and within academic content;
Subscribe to and implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice exceptional children;
Develop curriculum maps, units and engaging, differentiated lesson plans across multiple grade and ability levels to facilitate student-driven, project-based learning environments;
Design and implement individualized, hands-on, lab-oriented lessons using the Common Core standards as a general roadmap to be enriched by a variety of materials and real-world problem-solving tasks;
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
Implement curriculum and instructional activities driven by student learning styles and multiple assessment alternatives, and maintain complete records and portfolios of student work to illustrate and record progress and achievement.
Empower students to take charge of their learning by providing all necessary scaffolding, modeling, materials, and resources, and consistently maintaining a high level of expectation for student success.
Manage an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that engages students in finding pride in their space and taking part in the responsibility of maintaining the routines and order of materials.
Collaborate with other academic staff and psychosocial staff members to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects to enrich Common Core standards in the classroom across all subject areas.
Work cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, and colleagues by attending regular Prep and Team meetings, and meeting all deadlines set by administration.
Meet with parents/guardians to provide feedback on pupils’ progress at scheduled parent-teacher conferences, and complete written report cards in a professional, thorough and timely manner.
Be aware of school calendar and attend all evening meetings including Open Houses, Back to School Night, and other school functions, which may periodically be held beyond the school day.
Participate in all training and staff development modules, including reading required books and articles on cutting-edge 2E and other educational developments.
Use GSuite, specifically Google Drive.

Work Environment: This job operates in a school setting. School is located on the 4th floor of building. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the school.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds. During fire drills, employee will need to use the stairs to go to ground level from 4th floor. Typing required for composing emails and writing reports.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time position in an educational facility which is open 8 hours a day. Employee will work 10 months out of the year according academic calendar.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelors in Education or related field
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters in Education or related field along with High School State Certificate
