The Department of Computer Science at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking a highly organized, detailed-oriented person with strong people and communication skills, to be the department's primary receptionist as well as provide routine administrative and office support that includes a broad range of duties as described below.
This person needs to be able to multi-task in a busy office environment, remain at all times courteous and professional, organize and complete structured assignments according to priorities, recognize and solve typical problems that occur, evaluate and select solutions from established options/procedures, impact the team through the quality of the services or information provided, communicate through regular exchange of information and have basic accounting skills.
Be the department's primary receptionist, greeting and assisting everyone who enters the department's main office, answering the phone and directing calls, managing and escorting visitors, and distributing mail.
Be responsible for department scheduling, including campus visits, discover days, open houses and visitor/job candidates.
Process faculty requests for textbooks, collect class syllabi for centralized posting, and maintain the department's two-year tentative course schedule.
Assist with departmental events and handle catering.
Order supplies, and take care of local purchasing and pickup.
Take care of copying, filing and scanning.
Other duties as assigned.
Work under general supervision, as needed, and manage own workload.
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Proficiency in multiple computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
