The Director, Health Information Management Operations directs, plans, and organizes the staff and activities of the Health Information Management (HIM) department. This position oversees multidisciplinary operations and staff in support of the efficient operation of the HIM department at Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH). The Director, Health Information Management Operations will report to the Director, Revenue Integrity.
Duties of the Director, Health Information Management Operations may include the following but are not limited to:
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with RHIA credential or Associates Degree in Health Information Management or equivalent with RHIT credential. Five or more years' leadership experience in the HIM Department of a hospital/health system. Three or more years' experience working in an HIM environment with Electronic Medical Record systems. Three or more years' experience in overseeing Release of Information processes. Three or more years' experience in overseeing Document Imaging processes. Demonstrable Project Management skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in health related or business related field. Five or more years' experience as an HIM Department Director in an academic medical center. Experience in an HIM environment with Cerner's Electronic Medical Record system and Access HIM system. Experience collaborating with affiliated physician practices.
