Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Dean III. Reporting to the Executive vice Dean of Rutgers Business School (RBS) with a dotted line to the Senior Associate Dean of RBS Graduate Programs. The duties of the Assistant Dean III includes but not limited to the following; -Responsible for providing management support to all RBS international programs (focused on the graduate level). -Develops and maintains strategic partnerships with foreign universities, governments, corporations and industry organizations. -Manages current international programs such as short term faculty/staff visiting program, 3+2 Accelerated Dual Bachelor and Master Program, 2+2 Dual Bachelor Degree program, MBA Global Study Trip program, and visiting students certification program. -Executes international graduate students' recruitment campaign and provides counseling service for potential and current international graduate students. -Provides administrative support to the Executive Vice Dean for all issues related to the partnership arrangements with foreign entity. Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a master's degree in student development, higher education counseling, education, social work, or related area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student development and academic theories, methodologies, and current practices in higher education. Also requires a minimum of three years' experience in an academic, residence, judicial, student life/activities, or career development function; excellent communication skills; and computer literacy.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must possess the following abilities: strong leadership skills, consensus-building decision making, interpersonal skills, presentation and communication skills and fiscal management responsibility. - Must be able to work with faculty and staff at all levels within the university and executive-level constituents. - Candidate must be fluent in one foreign language, preferably in Mandarin Chinese language because this position needs to negotiate, draft agreements, and communicate with university officials in China, or in other locations in Asia where Chinese language mastery may be important and fluency in English.
- MBA or other graduate degree from a peer institution is very strongly preferred. - Professional experience in an AACSB accredited business school and/or international work experience are also preferred. - Experience teaching, living, or working abroad is helpful. - Familiarity with academic programs in higher education institutions in the US and abroad. - Basic Knowledge of USA immigration laws and regulations. - Must demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and willingness to travel, attention to detail and independent judgment. - International work experiences strongly preferred.
