The Departments of Anthropology and Archaeology, Language and Cultural Studies, Military and Veterans Studies, and Sociology and Gerontology are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented person to join our team. This person would have strong interpersonal skills, be responsible and a self-starter, and have a helpful, positive attitude toward assisting faculty, staff, students and outside constituents.
This position provides essential general/routine administrative and office support that includes a broad range of duties including:
Create a positive and welcoming front office environment by greeting visitors, giving directions, answering questions via telephone, email or face-to-face.
General faculty and student support; including faculty text book requests, course evaluations, photocopying, receiving and delivery of packages, key requests, Graduation lists, parking passes, telephone directory updates, travel arrangements, assisting with course scheduling changes and enrollments, ordering of office supplies.
Enter data into electronic files, databases, or spreadsheets.
Write and process general correspondence, formal business letters and assist with departmental newsletters.
Gathers and organizes material for the preparation of reports and publications by the department or analyzes and compiles data for reports to be submitted to superior.
Schedule meeting facilities, equipment and meals for events, meetings and programs.
Maintains a moderately large and complex system of records, resource material, and files, storage and retrieval within a division or large service department. Checks academic records for accuracy and completeness, locating and correcting sources of error.
Ability to edit and update department web pages.
PeopleSoft processing of travel reimbursements for faculty and graduate students.
Payment processing via vouchers, purchase orders, requisitions, and credit card.
Liaison to the Registrar's Office, Facilities, and Alumni Office.
Provide clerical support to the Chairs, Business Support Specialist and Program Directors.
Assist with providing training and coordination for student workers in the front office.
Complete other projects and duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be acquired is required. Six months of responsible office experience is necessary.
Experience should include excellent computer skills including, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and some knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
$11.54 per hour
