The PICPA is seeking a CPA to join our dynamic team dedicated to providing relevant, engaging, and quality continuing education for Pennsylvania’s CPAs. The CPA Learning Consultant position provides a unique opportunity to use your CPA knowledge and experience to build a competency-based education program while enjoying work-life balance, including a 35-hour work week, flextime and telecommuting options, and time off for volunteering.
In this influential position you will partner with committees of CPAs from across Pennsylvania and peers on the Learning & Development team to create and deliver quality training needs for the accounting profession. Use your CPA to help identify potential topics, speakers and relevant subject matter to create compelling CPE. The position includes gathering information and recruiting relevant industry speakers. The CPA learning consultant attends conferences, which will occasionally involve travel within the Greater Philadelphia area. There are also opportunities to learn with your peers from across the country at national conferences and industry events.
Research: Explore and collect background information for each learning topic, utilizing various methodologies and professional sources (including competitive or similar industry accounting events, interviews with subject matter experts, trade publications, etc.) in order to gain an understating and pitch ideas for the learning objectives and content.
Project Planning: Lead in-depth planning and brainstorming meetings with PICPA committee members (made up of CPAs) and identify current industry trends and challenges to develop quality, relevant continuing education content and partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to establish the topics and content.
Speakers: Identify and recruit high quality speakers; seek out the expertise of industry leaders to ensure that the intellectual content is engaging for the audience; gain commitments and work with speakers on expectations of their presentation. Build and maintain relationships with speakers and companies for future opportunities. Collect and fine-tune speaker presentation materials to ensure content and session are high quality and memorable for the audience.
Agenda creation: Write compelling, marketable agendas based on established objectives, analysis of industry research and knowledge of continuing professional education standards, that meet the needs of the target audience and drive attendance. Craft compelling copy for session titles and descriptions that grabs attendees attention and prompts them to register.
Marketing: Work with PICPA Learning & Development and Strategic Marketing team members on writing and developing appropriate messaging, and promotional materials, to reflect key selling points.
2+ years’ experience in accounting, including a CPA certification
Engaging, self-starter and eager to learn about current trends and topics in the accounting industry
Exceptional writing skills and ability to convey ideas tailored to a specific audience
Experience in leading projects and working in team environment
Excellent organizational skills and ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
Strong communication and business etiquette skills and ability to build relationships
Knowledge and proficiency in current Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office products
Accounting & Finance subject matter knowledge a plus
Knowledge of the concepts and practices of adult learning
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Flextime and Telecommuting schedules available after 6 months
