We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Manager.
Join the NYU Langone Vaccine Center, a dynamic new multi-disciplinary initiative at NYU Langone Medical Center. The PI has conducted virology and human immunology research, and vaccine clinical and translational research, for 31 years. In October, 2018 he became the Director of the new NYU Langone Vaccine Center, Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, the Jeffrey P. Bergstein Professor of Medicine, and a Professor of Microbiology at the NYU School of Medicine. His research bridges the research laboratory and the research clinic, and includes vaccine clinical trials and translational studies of human immune responses to pathogens and/or vaccines. From 2007-20018, he was the principal investigator for the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)-funded Emory Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU), one of nine national units. In addition, he served as a multiple principal investigator (MPI) for the NIAIDfunded EmoryCDC HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), conducting HIV/AIDS and TB research in Atlanta, Kenya, the Philippines, and Thailand. His research laboratory performs endpoint microbiology and immunology assays in support of these human studies.
Provide day-to-day management of translational research laboratory focused on human immunology, vaccine responses, infectious diseases.
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to assure efficient laboratory operations and compliance with regulatory agencies and procedures.
Provide day-to-day oversight, teaching, and support to postdoctoral fellows including MDs/clinical infectious disease fellows, graduate students, other trainees, and research staff.
Participate in research grant and contract writing.
Provide experimental support in the scientific area of expertise and interest.
Provide assistance with experimental design and data analysis.
Maintain Institutional Biosafety Committee and facilities approvals.
Assure compliance with training, practice, and record keeping related to human specimens, biosafety, bloodborne pathogens.
Oversee other staff responsible for: ordering supplies and maintaining inventories; equipment maintenance; specimen processing, cryopreservation and tracking; shipping and receiving hazardous materials; chemical inventory, waste disposal, and inspections.
Other duties as per PI instructions.

To qualify you must have a Bachelor's required, BA in immunology or microbiology preferred, Two years minimum supervisory experience. Outstanding spoken and written communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills. Outstanding organization and time management skills
Ph.D., M.D., Ph.D./M.D. or equivalent with post-doctoral training in immunology, virology, and/or microbiology. Significant experience with humoral immune response assays including virus binding and functional assays. Significant experience with phenotypic and antigen-specific cellular immune response assays. Experience with `omics assays advantageous.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
