AdventHealth Maitland seeks to hire Financial Coordinator – PA/PFS Charity Program who will embrace our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

AdventHealth Patient Access and Preaccess – offers world-class customer service and is often the patients' first impression at our mission-centric organization. As patient advocacy ambassadors, the team contributes positively to patient experience, patient safety, throughput, regulatory compliance and securing financial stability across the system. Our team of highly engaged registration and concierge staff assist patients, providing them with knowledge on medical insurance benefits and options to take care of patient financial responsibility.
Monday –Friday, 8a – 5p
Under general direction, coordinates functions and oversees day to day operations for multi campuses involving Financial Coordinator staff to ensure effective control points are in place by protecting the financial standing of AdventHealth. Adheres to AH Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Serves as hospital liaison for patient and family in the absence of the patient representative
Willingness to work as part of a management team, with some supervision experience or training
Uses discretion when discussing personnel/patient related issues that are confidential in nature
Is responsive to the ever-changing matrix of hospital needs and acts accordinglyli>
Self-motivator, quick thinker
Proficient in Microsoft Office products and performance of basic math functions, capability of communicating effectively and professionally with our patients, physicians, and family members
Five (5) years' experience in Patient Access/Patient Financial Services Department or related area (registration, finance, collections, customer service, medical office, contract management) and at least six (6) months team lead or supervisory experience
Minimum (2) years college degree (business, healthcare or health services administration, health information management, communications, finance, accounting, public administration, human resources, management, or marketing) with (5) or more years in Patient Access/Patient Financial Services department or related area as defined above (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:

Responsible for monitoring initial process of self-pay accounts during pre-registration, registration and at discharge for follow-up process of self-pay receivables which includes all active accounts whereby we have pending agency/vendor cases, charity eligible accounts and other financial arrangements to the point of disposition. Responsible for training new staff and continued education for tenured staff. Presents written and verbal directions to employees to ensure well-informed status of employees in performance of their job requirements as indicated.
Protects financial standing of AdventHealth by appropriately placing financial responsibilities and arranging payment of deposits due up-front and back end at all times. Oversight of the preparation and processing of files for patients who request financial assistance on their hospital account to meet a variety of financial programs.
Assesses the work performance of assigned employees, along with being able to interact in a professional manner with patients in collection procedures, billing problems, and protecting the hospital's financial standing. Provides accurate statistical records and reports.
Accountable for the daily supervision of the Financial Coordinator staff performing as hospital liaisons for specialized departments, service providers, physician offices, government agencies, noninsured and under insured patients; as well as the hospital liaison for funds provided by special programs and foundations. Understands and maintains current knowledge of various hospital contracts with service providers for specialty packages, foundations, programs and funds for noninsured and underinsured patients. Travels to multi-campuses on a consistent basis to ensure one standard flow within the Financial Assistance area.
Maintains knowledge of the Florida Medicaid, county government programs, and Medicaid Works all pending information regarding financial assistance determination and seeks resolution within assigned time frames. Works closely with Financial Assistance Manager in assessing employee progress. Required to constantly ensure a high level of team productivity. Assists in monitoring of work guidance and performance measures to meet goals for delivery of service to patients, providers, physician offices, and government agencies. Performs account audits as assigned to measure overall performance in accordance with the guidelines established by AH PA/PFS and the Financial Assistance Manager. Assigns daily, weekly and monthly reports in a timely and productive manner and intervenes as escalated or needed. Responsible for accurately documenting time record for all time worked and maintaining the work schedule as assigned. Works with Financial Assistance Manager on all other duties as assigned.
Ensures proper financial assessments have been completed and monthly audits are in place for quality assurance and meets with team members regularly to discuss outcomes.
Maintains an effective good rapport with Case Management and Rehab Administration for long length of stay patients. Ensures all Patients potentially eligible for Government programs are screened, tracked and monitored by appropriate staff which leads to favorable outcomes. Is responsible for current knowledge on regulatory changes within SSA and ACHA.
Adheres to HIPAA regulations by verifying pertinent information to determine caller authorization level receiving information on account.
