Departmental Overview Chemistry and Mathematical and Physical Sciences (ChaMPS) is a service region within Campus Shared Services (CSS) - a division of the UC Berkeley Office of the Vice Chancellor for Administration - provides reliable, high-quality integrative administrative support to faculty, academics, staff, student employees, and retirees in support of the UC Berkeley mission of teaching, research, and public service.
ChaMPS provides services in the areas of Business and Financial Services, Human Resources/ Academic Personnel Support and Research Administration (pre-award and post-award administration) for the College of Chemistry, the Division of Mathematical and Physical Sciences in the College of Letters & Science, Space Science Laboratory, and several other ORUs.
Enters employee information into Human Capital Management system and UCPath for new hires, payroll, change of status, terminations, pay issues, final pay, etc, ensuring that the data is correct and consistent.
Collaborates with HR/AP Partners, HR Generalists, HRIM/Payroll colleagues, and clients to research more complex department-related and employee issues.
May provide employees with standard information regarding department and organizational HR practices and procedures as they relate to the HCM system.
Manages sensitive and confidential information.
Manages customer management cases and tasks related to designated clients.
Runs reports on department staff for department managers and supervisors.
May be assigned special projects for professional development.
Advanced knowledge of HR/Payroll processes for data entry into HCM and UCPath
Advanced knowledge of HR processes and procedures for maintenance and purging of personnel files
General knowledge of benefits eligibility requirements
Knowledge of EEO and affirmative action reporting requirements
Knowledge of job posting procedures
Skill in managing sensitive and confidential information regarding bargaining unit issues
Attention to detail and accuracy
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Salary & Benefits This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay will be commensurate with experience within the the Union negotiated range of $23.47 - $26.33 / Steps 1.0-6.0.
