The Clinical Lab Supervisor 2, Point of Care Testing manages the Point of Care staff and Point of Care testing performed by nurses and other qualified staff, following all Departmental and governing organizations' polices and guidelines, and ensures effective and efficient operations of the section's testing performance.REQUIRED-Possesses California State issued Clinical Laboratory Scientist license, (current and renewed every two years as required).-Minimum of four (4) years of supervisory or specialist clinical laboratory science experience in Point of Care section in a large hospital laboratory setting is preferred.-Possesses technical knowledge of Point of Care testing procedures and pre-analytical processes, policies and procedures and regulations.-Possesses effective written and oral communication skills.-Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions, including Department and UCDH Infection Control and Standard Precautions policies and procedures.-Knowledge of Hospital and Laboratory Information System (LIS), EMR, hospital Incident Report System (e.g. RL Solutions), email, internet, Microsoft Office and data management software.-Possesses excellent interpersonal and team management skills to effectively collaborate with physicians, technologists, nursing and other staff.-Knowledge of employee progressive disciplinary steps, Collective Bargaining Agreements and human resources Leaves of Absence (i.e., FMLA, KinCare, Workers' Compensation, etc.).-Possesses knowledge of and applies the principles of Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Quality Improvement. -Experience to manage allocated resources, including labor and supply resources recognizing the relative costs and benefits of potential actions.-Uses good judgment in handling situations not covered by written or verbal instructions.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT-THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
