The Associate Athletic Director assists the Director of Athletics with the internal management and day-to-day operations of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department. This position will have direct oversight of sport programs and department functions. Westminster College is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA II) and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a member of the athletics administrative team and is responsible for events management, student-athlete support services, Title IX/gender equity, RMAC and NCAA reporting and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Supervise events management operations and staff, provide leadership and direction for all functions and programs of the department as assigned. Manage department athletic policies, procedures, manuals and handbooks. Coordinate fall preseason practices, including housing and meals for student-athletes. Track department community engagement and service activities. Manage student-athlete survey and senior exit interview program. Coordinate implementation of athletics gender equity and diversity and inclusion plans; serve as department liaison; coordinate NCAA Sexual Violence Prevention programming and student-athlete education for Athletics Department. Serve as academic support and eligibility supervisor for student-athletes. Serve on campus, regional and national committees. Represent Westminster at Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) meetings. Work closely with other staff to promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the college learning environment and support the academic success of student-athletes. Comply with all institutional, conference and national governing body regulations. Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Schedule outside normal business hours. This position requires an irregular work schedule including days, nights, weekends and some travel.
Bachelor's degree required and demonstrated successful experience in an NCAA athletics department or related experience
Comprehensive understanding of intercollegiate athletics administration
Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with high standards and goals
Commitment to high academic and professional standards consistent with the College’s mission, vision and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion
A collaborative management approach; strong communication, leadership, organizational and relationship-building skills; demonstrated planning and fiscal competencies; a familiarity with program development and assessment; excellent problem solving abilities
Prior senior administrative staff experience in an NCAA athletics department
Understanding of the role of enrollment at a small private liberal arts college
