The Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs is seeking candidates for the role of Research Associate. The Belfer Center is the hub for Harvard University's research, teaching, and training in international security affairs. In 2019, it was ranked the world's #1 university-affiliated think-tank for the sixth year in a row.
The Research Associate will lead the US-China Controlling Confrontation in Cyberspace Project (C3P), a 2 year project within the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs' Cyber Security Project. C3P brings together stakeholders from American and Chinese academia and business to develop pragmatic policy recommendations to enhance dialogue and stability in cyberspace.
The Research Associate will also contribute to the Center's China Cyber policy work and discrete activities within the wider Cyber Security Project, if required.
Lead the core and wider team of academics, policy practitioners and technical experts
Manage and deliver project workshops in the US and China
Steer and develop the final policy recommendations
Manage student and fellow team to develop the workshops and policy recommendations
Manage key relationships, specifically, with Chinese and commercial partners
Build and maintain the Center's China Cyber policy relevant knowledge
Build the profile of the Center's China Cyber policy work, various communications activities could include:
Host and support program activities
Present at meetings and conferences
Additional Information: This is a benefits eligible term appointment ending one year from date of hire, with possibility of renewal.

Minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably in China and/or with the Chinese government on cyber related issues
Experience of building and leading a team of academics, policy practitioners and technical experts on a global project
Budget, project and people management
A strong network of relevant China policy contacts in government and business
Nuanced understanding of wider geopolitical dynamics relevant to this project
