The University Public Records Office, located in the Office of University Compliance and Integrity, manages requests to the University under the Ohio Public Records Act by identifying, tracking and properly directing public records requests made to the University, performing legal review and redaction of responsive materials, overseeing the release of records, and ensuring all requests are appropriately and timely answered. The Public Records Office facilitates the university's compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements, including those governing public access, confidentiality, and privacy.
The Public Records and Data Analyst provides support to the Director of Public Records in fulfilling the Office's responsibilities for managing public records requests university-wide in a manner that both complies with regulatory requirements and fosters transparency and public access. Under the general supervision of the Director, this position develops, maintains and oversees electronic tracking of and response to records requests by the Public Records Office and by designated public records coordinators across the University; drafts correspondence; assists in the development of university staff training; responds to inquiries from and assists in providing advice to campus clients regarding public records; and interacts professionally with clients and the public, including media, to fulfill duties of the Public Records Office.
The position also supports the Office of University Compliance and Integrity with additional data analysis and management of information regarding regulatory reporting, compliance training, and risk management among other areas. This work is supervised by the Assistant Vice President for Compliance Operations and Investigations.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proven ability to provide a high level of professional interaction with all levels of customers inside and outside the university; proficiency in use of Microsoft Office products and on-line research tools; excellent and effective written and oral communication skills.
Considerable knowledge of the complexities and intricacies of Ohio public records law; two or more years as a paralegal in a public or private law office; data management experience; demonstrated ability to interact with a broad range of public and private constituencies; expertise in computer software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (with focus on Excel), Adobe Products (Pro, Audition, Premiere), and video/audio editing.
Target Salary: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 Annually
