To provide safe, reliable, timely distribution system engineering consistent with RUS and NESC design specifications.
Responsible for field engineering the expansion, modification and improvements to the electrical distribution system using RUS and NESC design standards.
Assists with the Construction Work Plan development and timely field staking of plan projects.
Responsible for providing timely and accurate field data as required to assist with maintaining a current and up-to-date computer mapping, customer information and billing system.
Exceed member expectations for new and existing member service requirements and cost estimates.
Coordinates with commercial and residential builders and developers to ensure a smooth design and facility installation process.
Responsible for annual pole attachment reconciliation for billing attaching utilities and periodic coordination and inspection of new joint use contacts.
Provides detailed and timely documentation on all jobs in order to effectively communicate work status throughout the company.
Conducts field inspections of construction projects.
Provides support during major outages by assisting in whatever manner necessary as prescribed in the Emergency Outage Plan.
Exercises professional courteous conduct in dealing with the member/consumers and other employees.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by adhering to policies, procedures and government regulations.
Assists in achieving a greater degree of teamwork by performing all other duties as assigned.
An Associate’s degree in surveying or a related engineering field is preferred.
Five years experience with distribution line construction or engineering is required.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to interact effectively with employees, members, general public, joint pole contact utilities, government agencies, site developers in a variety of situations, exercising good judgment and maintaining a positive company image
Must have an understanding of electrical fundamentals
Must have a strong knowledge of NESC, NEC and RUS construction standards
Must be able to acquire knowledge of the Cooperative’s Terms & Conditions for Supplying Electric Service
Must be self-motivated, be able to adjust quickly to schedule changes and capable of working with minimal supervision
Must acquire an understanding of the Cooperative’s computer systems, specifically staking, mapping and customer information systems.
Must have excellent basic personal computing skills, specifically MS Office
Must have good basic math skills
Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license
Normal office hours are required for this position (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM). Additional hours outside of normal office hours may be required for special projects and service interruptions. Much of the work required is performed outside in the field. Travel by day and overnight travel for training and seminars may be required occasionally.
During field work, walking over rough terrain and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds may occasionally be required.
