This position is an exciting opportunity for a District Manager to oversee 5-6 locations. The chosen individual will work out of their home office, and travel to bases in the area primarily by car, with occasional trips by plane. This position includes a company vehicle and necessary office equipment, and will require approximately 50% overnight travel.
The District Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of multiple Deli/Bakeries. Serves as a leader in the development and motivation of Deli/Bakery Management and Associates, while creating an environment that encourages productivity, food safety, customer service and sales. Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Colorado Springs area or the Southern part of Denver to be considered.
Is knowledgeable of and oversees the management of all aspects of deli, bakery, hot foods: sales and profit opportunities, staffing, training, customer service, product presentation, cleanliness, and sanitation.
Supports new growth programs in all departments to raise customer count in the stores.
Ensures consistent application of operating procedures.
Accountable to maximize daily sales and effectively manage costs, labor, inventory, margin and salvage.
Continuously promotes safety, ensures that safety procedures are following at all times and monthly Safety Meetings occur at each location. Personally, conducts a Safety Meeting at every location each quarter.
Manages and oversees compliance with Tri-Service Food Code requirements, and consistently monitors Food Safety practices. Ensures that Vet Inspections meet or exceed standards and expectations.
Approves schedules weekly to ensure that they are written to meet business needs and SPLH projections, and that they are being followed. Reviews hours to ensure compliance with Part Time and Full-Time status requirements.
Conducts inventory process alongside a Deli/Bakery Manager at a select base each month.
Serves or fills in as a Deli/Bakery Manager on an as-needed basis.
Ultimately responsible for all aspects of customer service, ensuring the highest level of quality and standards.
Empowers Deli/Bakery Managers and Associates to deliver the exceptional service.
Ensures DeCA Customer Surveys are within acceptable standards.
Assures Management and Associate morale is maintained at a high level.
Responsible for the development of Deli/Bakery managers, Assistant Managers, and Shift Leaders to include ensuring successful job training.
Responsible to provide direct, honest, and productive feedback to Management and Associates regarding individual performance.
Understands and follows established MDBS procedures for the recruitment and retention of staff.
Works closely with the Deli/Bakery Manager and Human Resources Manager to address performance management issues with corrective and/or disciplinary action.
Ensures compliance with MDBS policies and procedures.
Takes an active role in the recruitment and selection of a Deli/Bakery Manager as necessary.
Two+ years Food Service management experience, with a strong operational knowledge of Deli and/or Bakery
Experience in a retail supermarket chain and/or multi-unit operation required
Proven leadership and team building skills; ability to motivate and manage all levels of staff and management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Financial analysis and assessment skills
Solid computer skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Position is based from a home office with approximately 50% overnight travel to work at Deli/Bakery locations (depending on where DM resides).
Must be available to work during normal business hours, weekends and evenings.
Ability to routinely travel long distances by car or airplane on a regular basis to all deli/bakeries in the district.
Ability to read and analyze hard written copy and information on a computer screen.
Ability to successfully respond to multiple work pressures.
Ability to professionally communicate in writing (including email) to individuals and groups.
Ability to verbally communicate in person and using a phone.
Ability to listen for understanding and assist in problem solving
Carrying and lifting 30-50 lbs.
Operating Equipment Standing for entire shift
Ability to stand and to walk for 8-9 hours per day with intermittent breaks
Frequent repetitive motion using deli meat and cheese slicers
Good driving record required for use of company car, to include routine and unannounced driving record checks conducted for MDBS liability insurance purposes.
Ability to obtain and drive rental vehicles at different airports as needed.
Ability to gain entry and drive a vehicle onto multiple military installations, which may entail routine criminal background checks conducted by the Military
