The Patient Biller III provides billing and follow-up functions for the CCMC unit within PBG.REQUIRED-Work experience with medical billing and reimbursement requirements and procedures including government programs, private third party insurance and private individuals-Experience analyzing and interpreting various types of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Remittance Advice (RA)-Analytical skills to assess account balances and make determination or decision on further action-General knowledge of medical terminology in order to correlate reports to actual charges and to determine appropriateness of denials-Ability to compose effective appeal letters for initial and second level appeals to payers -General knowledge of accounting and credit and collection practices-General knowledge of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Insurance Classification of Disease (ICD-9) policies related to medical billing-Excellent6 math skills -Ability to read and comprehend and follow department policy, internal and external correspondence-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to appropriately respond to account inquires, both in person and over the telephone, communicate effectively with all internal and external customers-Ability to work independently-Experience working accurately and quickly under pressure in order to meet deadlines established by the department, government programs, or private insurance carriersSPECIAL REQUIREMENT - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
