Summary: Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Jewish Home Life Communities (JHLC), The Weinstein Hospice Executive Director is responsible for all operations, fiscal management and quality measures of The Weinstein Hospice (Hospice) to assure the highest level of care to patients and their families.
• Directs and coordinates the overall development and administration of Hospice consistent with Hospice’s mission and available resources, strategic plan as adopted by the JHLC Board of Directors and with the involvement of Hospice team • Provide direction and leadership to clinical and nonclinical staff • Manages day to day operations • Implements short and long term strategic goals as set by the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board • Financial acumen that incudes ability to prepare and manage budgets by controlling expense, meeting census and revenue projections and assuring long term financial viability of Weinstein Hospice. • Assures implementation of and compliance with all policies and procedures, licensing and certification rules, regulations and guidelines governing hospice services • Has overall responsibility for operating the quality assessment and performance improvement program. Provides feedback to the Board of Director of the Hospice on the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program • Maintains ongoing liaison between the Advisory Board of the Hospice and Hospice employees. • Ensures development of relationships and contractual agreements with third-party payers, other vendors, and the business community. • Assures compliance with contracts/ agreements. • Develops relationships with other hospices for inpatient services or delivery of spiritual and psycho-social services • Develops reports for and presents to the Hospice Advisory Board at regularly scheduled and special meetings and as required by the Board • Develops budget for hospice operations in collaboration with Controller • Facilitates weekly interdisciplinary team meetings • Maintain compliance, policy/procedure manual. Others as identified and needed • Respond to patient/family concerns • Review and edit, if necessary, all grants submitted for hospice funding
• Registered nurse with bachelor’s degree required. Masters in nursing a plus. • Strong business background a must. • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive experience working in a hospice with management experience and deep clinical understanding. • Knowledge of Jewish laws and customs a plus • Ability to effectively interact with patient, families, Hospice Advisory Board , medical director, system leaders and team members • Excellent oral and written communications skills required • Familiarity with hospice-based software preferred
