This role is responsible for the day to day supervision on Liquidity Management covering functions across Collateral Management, Client Valuations, Cash Management, Exchange Fund and Portfolio Reconciliation supporting Asia ex-Japan business. The team is located in Hong Kong and working closely with another supporting team in Mumbai. Individual will have regional exposure and fully aligned and integrated with the other teams in Tokyo, London and New York.
As a risk mitigating tactics, the Collateral Management process is extensively applied in different businesses of the firm, including OTC, Prime, Repos and Structured products. It is cross products and multi-disciplinary that all rounded knowledge of investment banking will be required. The successful candidate will need working with different departments and functions to deliver good result.
Other than the normal daily process, a wide range of global and regional specific projects including Global Margin have also been initiated to meet regulatory requirement, improve the operational capability and efficiency of the function. Active involvement in these projects with contributions is expected from the successful candidate.
Key Experience & Skills
The successful candidate will assist in supervising both onshore and offshore team located in both Hong Kong and Mumbai to provide daily supports in the region. As the subject matter expert, he or she will be required to familiar all related processes and resolve complicated issues with other stakeholders within the firm to deliver and drive positive results. He or she will also be actively involved in all related system developments and UAT at the global level and represent Asia to provide the view and requests of the region. Externally, the candidate will act as the representative of collateral practitioner for the firm to the industry and clients.
1) Collateral Management
-Examine derivatives, repos, cross-netted exposures ensuring margin requirement are correct and clients are collateralized in line with the CSA, CMNA, GMRA and regulatory margin rules.
-Closely monitor the margin call timelines and transfer timing to ensure proper execution and timely escalation to Credit Officers and Business Desks of the margin call status and any exceptions.
-Provide professional advices during the negotiation with counterparties for any collateral related documentation and operations.
-Participate in sign off for new client or new product/ process going live.
-Maintaining, developing, and improving current processes and robust procedures
-Review key metrics pack and ensure appropriate risk management.
-Work on all projects of system upgrade and enhancement for the collateral process and margin trading supports.
-Providing supports to the global operating model of Collateral Management for the controls and the data management process.
-Ensuring that the relevant policies of Collateral Management, Margin Trading and Client Valuations are being followed in the daily process
-Ensure that all requirements from the Standard Control policies are fulfilled.
2) Client Valuations
-Monitor price queries and ensure timely distribution of valuation reports to both internal and external clients.
-Ensure that proper procedures and controls are in place to comply with internal valuations policies.
-Ensure timely respond to clients' requests and manage client expectations with efficient and professional service.
-Maintaining, developing, and improving current processes and procedures
3) Cash Management and Exchange Funding
-Working closely with Treasury to refine procedures to meet various funding requirements
-Ensure smooth margining process by monitoring smooth funding and cut-off timelines
-Overseeing funding process and unexpected long/short balances across firm's accounts
-The ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 year's work experience in banking industry
-Good understanding of financial products, including equity/fixed income OTC derivative, FX products, Repos and basic knowledge of ISDA/CSA is a bonus
-Basic understand of global margin rules and requirements
-Experience and detailed understanding of the processes in the Operations and Settlements of an investment bank
-Critical to risk awareness and escalation protocol to drive strong control environment
-Strong leadership skills and desire to build consensus within the team
-Effective time-management, high level of integrity and able to work under pressure
-Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English
-Advanced level of Excel
-University degree is required. Professional qualification, particularly Accountancy or Finance, would be advantageous.
