Schedule/Shift: 1.0 FTE / Night Shift
Assist the department manager by providing daily leadership that promotes and restores patient's health by developing day to day management and long term planning of the patient care area; directing and developing staff; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staffs; and providing physical and psychological support for patients and families.
The Clinical Shift Supervisor will:
Assist the Manager in maintaining the highest degree of clinical and operational performance of the department.
Assist with recruit, select, guide, and training of all clinical staff.
Assist to ensure nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing facility's, organizational program initiatives, day to day operations, and personnel policies and procedures.
Assure quality of care by developing, interpreting hospitals, division's, and corporate philosophies and standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agencies.
Daily/regularly monitoring, measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
Implement, educate, and utilizes approved staffing matrix and follows productivity standards.
Ensure staff complete patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning department and staff, verification of accuracy and completed results.
Review, educate, mentor, and ensure accountability of clinical staff via coaching and counseling employees by planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, staff, and providers.
Participates, promotes, and ensure nurse leader rounding on all shifts.
Participates, monitors, and evaluates all aspects of achieving high HCAHPS scores
Protects patients, families, and employees by developing and interpreting infection control policies and protocols; enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Assist financial objectives by preparing and completion of all daily reports, budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability, completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintain a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, and participating in team problem solving methods.
Leads daily department huddles.
Participate, promotes, ensures, monitors, and evaluate daily bedside shift report.
Resolves patient and family needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
B.A. / B.S. Required
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
ACLS and BLS Certification
NIH Stroke Scale Certification
1 Year work experience in area of supervision required
1 year of progressive hospital/nursing management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Evidence of experience which defines competency in cardiovascular, hospital, and healthcare management preferred.
Evidence of experience in successful administration and leadership of organizational management programs preferred.
Ability to manage department employee and labor relations / Human Resource related issues
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to direct and oversee work of staff, and communicate effectively with other disciplines and departments.
Current Microsoft, computer and other relevant software skills.
Analytical skills necessary to direct provision of procedures, resolve technical problems, and identify training needs.
In depth knowledge of pulmonary care principles, procedures and techniques, as well as technical skills in equipment operation and maintenance.
Time management and organizational skills are needed to ensure productivity standards are met and multi disciplinary responsibilities are handled.
Ability to learn and utilize computerized patient care and management system.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Must effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
