The Kansas City Missouri site of the UMKC School of Pharmacy is looking for an experienced Business Support Specialist II to support the SOP Business Office with daily fiscal responsibilities. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of follow through and work ethic, detailed orientated and impeccable customer service skills. Must be adaptable and flexible in an environment that is growing and changing daily.
Applications are being sought for a Business Support Specialist at the Kansas City Missouri site of the UMKC School of Pharmacy Business Office. Duties include but are not limited to:
Fiscal, policy, and office administration: Research, gather, catalog, and organize information. Ensures that budgets, policies, reports, graphs, charge, schedules, financial statements, forms, questionnaires, correspondence, meeting minutes, timekeeping records, grant applications, summaries, proposals, purchase vouchers, requisitions, and other documents are completed, checked, and communicated properly and timely.
Decision-making: May develop or provide input in the development of policies, procedures, and standards. Determines correct level of confidentiality and security and acts appropriately. Completes projects and processes with appropriate supervision. Acts independently utilizing critical thinking skills to handle situations that arise.
Communication and Relationships: Assists coworkers with various projects as assigned through organization, delegation, leadership, and sharing of information, and personal assistance. Answers inquires. Provides regular communications to coworkers as assigned. Internal information request are fulfilled. Communicates about project status. Partners with external vendors, technicians, and other resources to achieve results. Ensures visitors are hosted appropriately. Obtains approvals as required. Represents department at designated meetings. Completes projects and processes with appropriate supervision.
Office personnel supervision: Provides leadership and direction to office personal as assigned. Provide training and development, communication and evaluation.
Department/Division/University Image: Ensures adherence to department/university polices and guidelines, and compliance with relevant laws. Responsible for maintaining the highest degree of service for coworkers, students, and visitors. Operates in a fiscally responsible, socially responsible manner, upholding the image and goodwill of the organization and its mission at all times.
Perform related duties as assigned.
An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be required is necessary, as well as five years progressively responsible office experience. Education or training beyond high school may be substituted for experience. Experience working in an academic environment preferred
