M&G Operations is a Division of M&G Limited and provides services to other M&G Group operating companies and various Prudential Group companies.
The Controls & Assurance function within M&G Operations includes the Technology Controls Monitoring Team whose remit is to monitor, enhance and maintain an effective technology control environment through regular and frequent monitoring of agreed critical controls
To support the line management's adherence to M&G's risk and control environment through continual monitoring and periodic review of critical controls
To analyse specific governance themes within the wider M&G risk framework taking into account stakeholder perspectives (e.g. IRM, Risk and Audit)
To support the Head of Technology Controls Monitoring with controls and audit monitoring activity in an efficient and consistent manner
To analyse requests from and collate responses to audits and other reviews
To propose continuous improvement ideas, including early detection and mitigation of risks
Administration of local governance and planning forums, including scheduling, preparing inputs and recording outputs
Supporting the Head of Technology Controls Monitoring and M&G IT control owners in a timely and accurate manner
Contributing to and executing the communication and training strategy for M&G Operations staff on the control framework, key responsibilities and department-wide best practices
Reviewing policies and authoring best practices, where requested
Conducting assessments and continuous testing of critical control effectiveness, with escalation to management as necessary
Reporting to senior management all findings and recommended actions on a regular basis (monthly)
Identify deviations from process and take corrective action accordingly
To provide an independent viewpoint on processes and controls but with a clear understanding of perspective and impact
To act as primary liaison resources for coordination and collation of evidence to support internal and external audits
Analysis and interpretation of data to identify abnormal trends, which may highlight deviation from our controls framework
Production of bespoke MI to drive improvements in behavior and control awareness
Promoting controls culture & awareness by running training sessions and the distribution of the audit roadmap
Provision of incident management services, training and reporting to clients
Governance and planning forums being run efficiently
Timely and accurate completion of audit activities
Issues and actions being identified and closed in a timely manner
Any breaches of controls or best practices identified early and internally
Demonstrate improvements in controls regime over time
Feedback from control owners
Adherence to M&G Operations policies, principles and controls
In addition to administering governance and planning forums, the Controls Monitoring Analyst is expected to collaborate and attend meetings relating to:
Ad-hoc incident and hot reviews
Ad-hoc Group-wide reviews
Regular reporting cycles
Self-certification activities every 6 months
Annual Interim audit
Annual External audit
Projects impacting controls
Skills & Experience
Degree-level academic qualification
Knowledge of end-to-end Project Change & Delivery lifecycle
Demonstrable positive and proactive approach to completing work
Administering governance and planning forums
Applying a neutral and un-biased perspective to issues
Proven ability to learn new processes and technical terms quickly
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Detailed, logical and diligent approach when documenting issues
Able to present information clearly, succinctly and accurately
Robustness when faced with challenges to findings
Able to exercise judgement on priorities between activities based on their impact to controls and best practices
Proven experience of implementing and operating IT controls
At least 1 industry-wide IT and/or Risk qualification
Track record of using change management tools
Use of standard Agile techniques (e.g. Scrum) and tools (e.g. JIRA)
