Essential Job Duties:
During the Director’s absence, this temporary (one year assignment expected) Coordinator position will provide leadership and continuity of service for the department and our 2,400 military-affiliated students. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating programs and services, planning events and outreach, and handling administrative responsibilities associated with operating NC State’s Military and Veteran Services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: ●Serve as a champion and ambassador for our military-affiliated students ●Provide transition assistance to military-affiliated students ●Serve as an internal and external liaison for military-affiliated students ●Supervise VA Work Study program and student staff ●Serve as interim advisor to the Student Veterans Association (SVA) ●Organize and deliver staple programs and seek opportunities to expand department offerings
Perform all duties as assigned
●Ability to multitask and work collaboratively with others ●Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills ●Ability to work with minimal supervision ●Ability to provide exceptional leadership and customer service ●Ability to work effectively with diverse populations ●Ability to establish and sustain strategic relationships with campus and community partners ●Demonstrated passion for working with military-affiliated students
●Masters degree preferred (Completion by August 2019) ●3 + years of experience working in higher education ●Prior or current military service (Veteran, Active Duty, Reserve/National Guard) ●Prior experience working with military-affiliated college students ●Program planning and assessment experience ●Experience supervising or advising college students
