The Community Outreach Research Specialist will assist with HIV public health planning and engagement in the HPCP, a longitudinal project that works to design, implement, and support health planning activities in Pennsylvania for the entire spectrum of HIV prevention and care. This project receives federal and state funds through the Pennsylvania Dept. of Health, Division of HIV Disease.
This position will have lead responsibility for designing and implementing stakeholder engagement for statewide HIV planning. This entails best-practice outreach using diverse mediums and methodologies to reach communities impacted by HIV throughout the commonwealth (townhalls, online outreach, coordination with government, healthcare, and community/nonprofit groups, etc.). Other required tasks include supporting needs assessment and survey distribution, conducting key informant or qualitative interviews, supporting prevention capacity building for technical assistance, and traveling to regional and statewide planning meetings, among other outreach and planning activities.
Master's degree or commensurate, extensive relevant experience. Public health degree or social science education/experience strongly preferred. Experience working in a public health setting, community/nonprofit outreach or intervention, or community research environment. Must demonstrate past successful coordination of multiple activities in support of community outreach or research. Microsoft Office Suite experience, excellent communication and survey skills, scientific literature review and data management experience required. Must demonstrate experience or expertise with public health community engagement methodologies. The ability and familiarity to engage minority and historically marginalized populations—including but not limited to African American communities, people living with HIV, and men who have sex with men, for example—is essential.
