For more than a century, the Conservatory of Music and Dance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City has been a leader in creating the city's cultural riches and in extending UMKC's reach nationally and internationally. Focused upon creativity, performance, scholarship and learning in the arts, the Conservatory is, at heart, a community of warm and fiercely dedicated people.
The Community Music and Dance Academy complements the Conservatory's degree programs by bridging the national reputation and excellence of the Conservatory with the local musical needs of the Kansas City community. The Academy functions as a division within the Conservatory, providing non-credit preparatory performing arts education and community engagement programs for children and adults.
Teach 16/18 weeks per semester and 9 weeks each summer session
Clearly explain studio and Academy policies to students, as well as session dates and breaks.
Build studios through recruitment in a good-faith effort to maintain and promote the Academy.
Maintain contact with students on a regular basis, communicating with them regarding cancelled/rescheduled lessons, registration due dates, etc.
Prepare students for end of semester performance and juries
Submit attendance and lesson reports on a weekly basis
Communicate with the Coordinator concerning scheduling of rooms, needs of the studios, and condition of equipment.
Must have at least an undergraduate degree in music, graduate degree preferred.
Preferred at least 1 year experience teaching private lessons
