The Department of Education at Salve Regina University welcomes applicants for part-time adjunct instructors for secondary education student teaching for the 2019-2020 academic year.
The adjunct provides formal supervision of pre-service PreK-12, special education, and content specific secondary teacher candidates in math, English, history, French, Spanish, and biology during their student teaching in regional schools in accordance with department and program goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrated strength in communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of assessment of effective instructional methods and Rhode Island Professional Teacher Standards and PreK-12 students and content standards.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Completes direct and indirect supervision of student teachers.
Provides an appropriate professional clinical model representing the profession including but not limited to Rhode Island Educator Code of Professional Responsibility, HIPAA Regulations, and Confidentiality Guidelines.
Reviews and edits student documentation including but not limited to lesson plans, observations, student reflections, and impact projects.
Conducts a minimum of three formal on-site observations per student teacher.
Completes formative and summative assessments of the practicum students' clinical skills.
Provides verbal and written feedback to support students in regard to clinical practice, professionalism, and competency.
Participates in weekly Student Teaching Seminar.
Master's Degree required.
Five years teaching experience in PreK-12 setting.
Knowledge of the accreditation process in teacher education is a benefit.
