The Digital Solutions Department of the Stanford Graduate School of Business seeks an experienced and highly skilled Director of Project Assurance to oversee the successful completion of development and infrastructure projects within the Digital Solutions Department while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments, and goals of the school. In this role, you will engage with the operations behind a world class academic institution, contributing your experience and skills to influence and evolve the workplace and culture. The job purpose of this position is to direct the activities of the Project Assurance group consisting of business analysts, project managers, architects, content, and UX resources. Perform the strategic management of the project management function, which impacts the entire GSB. Your primary responsibilities include:
Lead and manage the Project Assurance group, including recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating. Provide oversight of end-to-end project management activities, associated change management strategies/plans, and end user satisfaction. Oversee the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the organizational structure and project management procedures to ensure that consistent and repeatable practices are employed across projects.
In partnership with the CIO, oversee the establishment of formal and standard project management practices and document templates.
Ensure solution delivery is on time and within established budgetary and design constraints.
Ensure that analysis, design, and testing activities are thoroughly planned and implemented.
Ensure resolution of complex business and technical problems.
Partner with the CIO to determine project priorities via an established governance process.
Manage the adoption and adaptation of emerging technologies to meet changing requirements, capabilities, and opportunities.
Build a competent and diverse project management team; recruit, lead, and mentor key staff through motivation and education; provide a clear vision and sense of mission for the organization.
Facilitate the creation and implementation of successful change management strategies and plans.
Manage risk mitigation activities.
Participate in strategic planning activities for the department.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to leverage the university/school's resources for successful project completion.
Direct and manage strategic relationships both inside and outside of the GSB; maintain a high level of interaction and collaboration with clients and peers across the university.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:
Bachelor's degree in a related field, and ten years of progressively responsible, relevant project management experience performing duties similar to those listed above or combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience leading and managing a large organization of technical staff through subordinate managers.
Experience leading large, complex projects or programs.
Demonstrated ability to organize work and to manage multiple projects.
Exceptional and effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences.
In-depth knowledge and understanding of GSB operations, administration, community, and mission.
Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement components.
Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness.
Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects.
Certifications and Licenses:
For IT domain: Project Management Professional (PMP) certified, completion of a Project Management Certificate program, or certification in process. Years of experience will also be considered if certification is not present.
