Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Coordinator, Budgetary Services for the Department of Medicine/Global Tuberculosis Institute at the New Jersey Medical School. The Coordinator, Budgetary Services directs the general accounting activities of the unit to ensure that financial transactions are properly processed and accounted. The Coordinator develops and implements accounting systems and procedures; ensures accurate and timely preparation of financial reports, account analyses and assists in preparation of expenditures and revenue forecasts.
Formulates, recommends and implements accounting procedures and controls for the Unit.
Analyzes present accounting systems and procedures for possible improvements.
Responsible for general ledger accounting and maintenance of Chart of Accounts.
Develops or improves methods of processing invoices and issuance of checks for payment.
Prepares Unit’s budget.
Analyzes monthly statistical and operating results.
Responsible for financial administration of accounts.
Responsible for set-up and maintenance of receivable records.
Submits required reports to the State of New Jersey and federal government as required.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
Four (4) years of relevant financial experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communications and analytical skills required.
Strong spreadsheet and personal computer skills required.
Able to work under deadlines and to balance multiple projects.
Experience, in an academic institution and/or with public health sponsored programs.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
