The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS, www.psers.state.pa.us/), located in Harrisburg, PA, is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Investment Professional - Absolute Return Program / Non-Traditional Investments. The organization currently has approximately $54 billion in assets under management that are invested for the long-term benefit of its members.
This position will support the Senior Portfolio Manager (Absolute Return Program) in all aspects of the investment management process, including monitoring, evaluating and sourcing investment managers and co-investments across the Absolute Return Program portfolios (event driven, relative value, and tactical trading strategies).
The senior investment professional will be responsible for the following duties related to the Absolute Return Program portfolios:
Review and process partnership capital calls, distributions, and valuation statements
Maintain portfolio-related valuation databases
Reconcile internal data with the external hedge fund consultant data
Review annual and quarterly financial reports
Prepare regular performance, exposure and asset class review presentations
Assist with monitoring Absolute Return program investment managers
Assist with oversight of the external hedge fund consultant to monitor Absolute Return program investment managers
Attend and participate in on-site due diligence and annual meetings on behalf of PSERS
Work on special projects as needed
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and will possess broad knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative investment evaluation concepts. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The senior investment professional will be part of a larger investment team of over 40 individuals; strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work ethic are essential.
Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and at least four years of relevant work experience in the investment industry, preferably at an endowment, foundation, pension, investment consultant or other allocator of capital. The candidate must have strong MS Excel/PowerPoint skills and experience in performance reporting/reconciliation and working with analytical software solutions is strongly preferred. Progress toward the CFA or CAIA designation is considered a plus.
The salary for this position is $113,331 to $162,055 and is negotiable based on experience and credentials. Compensation includes an attractive benefits package.
