The International Employment Counsel, in partnership with Legal Department team members around the world, will provide solutions-oriented legal guidance on all aspects of labour and employment law across multiple regions and countries across Europe, while mitigating risk and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. The guidance will support various aspects of the company’s operations and functional departments.
You must be solution finders, not just problem identifiers. Candidates must be comfortable working alone, but also able to build good relationships to allow them to use the wider Panasonic team in resolving issues. This is not a 9-5 job!
Provide day-to-day legal advice and support to Human Resources and management
Advise on topics such as employee handbooks, policies and procedures; recruiting and hiring; employee relations; performance management; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; disability and accommodations; sick leave and other leaves of absence; working time; compensation and benefits; discrimination, harassment and retaliation; confidentiality and restrictive covenants; and contingent worker issues.
Keep informed of significant labor and employment trends and decisions, legislation and rulings.
Draft and edit employment-related templates and documents.
Develop and provide employment-related training.
Manage and/or provide support on pre-litigation and litigation matters
Develop case strategies and budgets, prepare or review pleadings and discovery responses, prepare witnesses, negotiate settlements.
Assist with identifying, engaging, and managing outside counsel.
Draft and coordinate responses to requests for employment records, demand letters, and government audits and investigations.
Provide general corporate support, with a focus on relevant employment topics
Advise on employment aspects of various business transactions, including reorganizations and integrations, mergers and acquisitions, and significant projects/initiatives.
Support branch office registrations and de-registrations, corporate governance, and corporate expansion activities.
Partner with Office of Compliance and Ethics on compliance projects and initiatives.
Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned, in support of the corporate and legal functions of the organization.
Strong labor and employment background and litigation management experience in multiple jurisdictions, preferably, Nordics, Spain, Italy & France legal experience.
Experience dealing with works councils, trade unions and collective bargaining preferred.
Avionics, electronics, software, satellite communications, and services provider experience preferred.
Excellent research, writing, and negotiation skills.
Proficient in MS Office software including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to interface successfully with executives and all levels of internal and external clients to develop and maintain good working relationships.
Ability to work independently, set priorities, meet deadlines and resolve complex problems, with a thorough understanding of the business and legal environments.
Demonstrated ability to implement legal strategies to meet business goals.
Willingness to be flexible and adaptive and demonstrate a desire to operate in a dynamic and high-growth environment.
Work well under pressure with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Outstanding communication skills, highly presentable and articulate. Communicate and interact effectively with multiple levels within the organization.

Qualified and admitted to practice law in the jurisdiction where position is located
12 years’ experience practicing labor and employment law Inclusive of:
4+ years’ in-house experience at a multinational company, supporting matters across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and/or the Asia Pacific/Japan region
2+ years’ law firm experience
Experience in a U.S. or Japanese-based multinational company preferred
Eligibility to work in the EU (ability to move freely within EU states and elsewhere is a key requirement of the role) as some travel (domestic & international) is required.
