Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Global Nuclear Science and Technology Group is searching for a candidate with a background in nuclear engineering, commercial reactor experience, or a related discipline who possess an understanding of the nuclear fuel cycle. This position will support multidisciplinary projects that require a broad understanding of technical and policy implications of nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear security policy, or intelligence initiatives that address national security challenges. The position provides intelligence analysis support for the Intelligence Community (IC).
The position provides engineering analysis for a number of nuclear science and material production related topics as well as nuclear nonproliferation and safeguards applications
Provides program and research support to chemical and nuclear sciences, nonproliferation, nuclear security policy or intelligence initiatives that address national security challenges
Subject matter expert leader for major technical tasks; lead author on technical reports and other written or oral deliverables; direct communication with clients within and exterior to PNNL. Will also mentor junior staff and interns to aid in their professional development
This position will be expected to work with non-sensitive, sensitive, and classified information as appropriate for individual projects and the incumbent should demonstrate an ability to manage sensitive business situations and influence positive outcomes. The person in this position must recognize and accept that they will be working in technical areas associated with the National Security of the United States
Bachelor’s degree in nuclear or chemical engineering or related technical degree and 5 years experience or Master’s degree plus 3 years experience, or a PhD with 1 year experience
Demonstrated experience in a field directly relevant to nuclear engineering and analysis
Ability to draft data products and generate analytical reports
Demonstrated ability and willingness to perform as a team member on multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with high expectations for quality
Well-developed oral and written communication skills, including detail-oriented writing and the ability to convey complex information accuratel
Familiar with all aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle
Commercial reactor experience
Experience in U.S. Government intelligence or U.S. Military intelligence
Experience in all-source analysis and analytical tradecraft writing techniques
