GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for overseeing operations of psychiatric practice.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Physician Owners (Partners).
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises staff/clinicians and oversees the management of all practice activities and staff.
Responsible for developing and implementing the practice's mission and strategic vision.
Provides leadership in developing planning and implementing the practice's business plans to the Physician Owners.
Recommends, develops, implements improvements for the practice.
Informs Physician Owners about current trends, problems and medical activities to facilitate policy making.
Establishes, secures approval and overseas practice operating policies and procedures.
Oversees physical plant and equipment with an emphasis on being proactive to decrease down time and improve productivity.
Participates and coordinates the physician/clinicians recruitment.
Oversees efforts for recruitment, development, performance evaluation of employees.
Oversees the business and financial affairs of the practice and fiscal management in conjunction with the practice CPA.
Oversees and manages the billing and collection processes/department.
Enhances operational effectiveness, emphasizing cost containment without jeopardizing important innovation or quality of care. Review and evaluate vendor contracts and negotiate the best rate for the needs of the practice.
Ensures practice compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies. Continually monitors operations, programs, physical properties. Initiates appropriate changes.
Ensure all federal and state laws and guidelines are followed (eg OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, FMLA), maintain current licensures and CPR for clinical staff, ensure that medical records are properly stored and released
Represents the practice in its relationships with other health organizations, government agencies, and third-party payers.
Manages all practice managed care relationships, including monitoring of related reimbursement, negotiation with third party payers, provider credentialing, and maintenance of contracts.
Serves as liaison and channel of communication between the hospitals, health plans, insurance companies and regulatory bodies.
Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional, healthful practice atmosphere. Resolve conflicts, maintain personnel records, hire/orientate/evaluate/ discipline/discharge staff, develop job descriptions and office policies.
Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest health care trends and developments.
Maintains strictest confidentiality.
Remain Current in Healthcare Trends -Obtain practice management certifications, maintain professional organization memberships, attend continuing education courses/webinar.
Strong Communication Skills – Possess strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be able to effectively communicate with everyone who passes through the office (physicians, clinical and administrative staff, patients, external vendors, etc).
Behavioral Characteristics – Must be even-tempered, approachable, and have excellent people skills to keep staff motivated and working efficiently.
Conflict Resolutions Skills – Should be able to quickly address, mediate, and resolve conflicts during high-stress situations.?
Multi-Tasking Ability and Detail-Oriented – Possess an eye for detail and capable of streamlining routine office processes. The Practice Manager should know when and how to delegate tasks when needed.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting or related field required. Master's preferred.
Five years prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area, medical group practice experience is preferred.
Must be PC proficient with strong experience in Microsoft office products. Proficient with EMR software Medent a plus.
Excellent organizational, collaborative, communication, commitment, observation, problem solving and analysis skills required.
Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required.
Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Knowledge of medical billing preferred.
