Summary: Conducts performance reviews, assigns employees work, schedules time off, determines priority of work to be done. Oversees day-to-day operations for area of responsibility. Coaches and counsels employees toward performance improvement; disciplines when necessary. Has strong recommendation authority re: hires and terminations. May assist with budgeting. Uses discretionary judgment in the management of staff, customers and visitors. May provide staff education and training. Serves as key resource for staff in their day-to-day job duties. Identifies and facilitates opportunities for improvement in the areas of quality care and services, stewardship, employee satisfaction, communication, accountability and customer satisfaction. The position of Security Supervisor is responsible to work under the direct supervision of the Lead Security Officer and Director of Security while managing shift safety and security assignments thus providing a safe and secure environment for patients, families, guests, physicians, staff and property of LRH.
Detailed responsibilities: * People At The Heart Of All We Do - Fosters an inclusive and engaged environment through teamwork and collaboration. - Ensures patients and families have the best possible experiences across the continuum of care. - Communicates appropriately with patients, families, team members, and our community in a manner that treasures all people as uniquely created. * Safety And Performance Improvement - Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety. - Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work. - Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work. * Standard Work Duties: Security Supervisor - Perform, supervise, counsel, train, and evaluate the performance of staff members - Coordinate preliminary investigation of all safety and security incidents Coordinate and complete follow-up investigations as assigned by the department director. - Responsible for continuity in operations, service repair initiation, control and evaluation of all security equipment, including access control and CCTV electronic security equipment. - Continually refines the quality of work and standard work for assigned shift and staff. - Consistently demonstrates commitment to personal accountability as well as that of the staff, demonstrating integrity and fair treatment to staff. ability to make appropriate judgments and decisions in carrying out daily job duties, always demonstrating a commitment to excellence, willingness to seek feedback from staff and interactive listening skills, focusing high priority to quality outcomes. - Using a collaborative leadership style, facilitates the achievement of department and system-wide quality, safety, satisfaction and stewardship goals. Monitors and tracks data/reports as identified by the department leadership. - Oversees the orientation of new employees, assesses the ongoing competence of all employees and conducts performance appraisals. Coaches employees and focuses on ongoing staff development - Responds to complaints, adverse situations, unplanned circumstances or problems to insure that work is completed efficiently, staffing needs are met, customer and staff satisfaction concerns are addressed appropriately and expected outcomes are achieved. - Inspires others to accomplish strategic goals, actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives. - Schedules and assigns staff to insure that workload is met, budget constraints are fulfilled and expenses are maintained within guidelines. * Stewardship - Demonstrates responsible use of LRH's resources including people, finances, equipment and facilities. - Knows and adheres to organizational and department policies and procedures. * Supervisor/Team Lead Capabilities - Demonstrates accountability for shift/team operations and care/service delivery to support achievement of organizational priorities. - Coaches front line team members to support ongoing professional development and hardwire technical and professional capabilities. - Creates a high performing team by building strong relationships, delegating work and nurturing commitment and engagement. - Manages team conflict/issues implementing appropriate corrective actions, improvement plans and regular performance evaluations. - Applies change management best practices and standard work to support departmental changes and ensure effective team transition. - Promotes a healthy and safe culture to advance system, team and service experience.
Qualifications & Experience

Education equivalent experience: Nonessential: * Criminal Justice or related field of study
Other information: Licenses Essential: Ability to obtain Florida Security License upon employment Valid State driver's license Licenses Preferred: Class D Security License Valid Florida Operator's License Certifications Essential: Current Basic, Advanced or Supervisor Security Officer Certification from International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). Certifications Preferred: Current Supervisor Certification from IAHSS or ability to obtain within six months of Supervisor appointment. Must maintain certification for duration of position or until obtaining CHPA. Obtain CHPA certification from IAHSS upon eligibility. FEMA: IS-100 HCb, IS-200 HCa, IS-00700.a, IS-800.b Experience Essential: Three to five years of experience in healthcare security, law enforcement or military security with demonstrated progressive increase in responsibility.
One year or more supervisory experience. Greater than five years of experience in healthcare security, law enforcement or military security.
